Communication
Staff engineers are high agency and story tellers. Self-selecting tasking
and adding value with little oversight. In this project, modernizing requirements verification system,
required fostering relationships with several entities: including engineering managers, directors,
systems engineers, the subsystem engineers, testing teams, software vendors, and even external customers including
NASA. I served as a trusted advisor is all things requirement-verification tooling related.
It is important to interject positivity and
good cheer, because engineers want to design and build, not do systems verification planning,
so I provide a to lighthouse of positivity at all times.
I published internal video training courses, do regular software product demonstrations,
and prepare software to fit organizational objectives.
Linux application administration
This project required me to administrate multiple
linux-based, commercial-off-the-shelf software applications, self-hosted in Amazon Web Services, in highly regulated environments.
I coded automation to handle the administrative tasks such as installing, configuring, and backing up of the application.
I coordinate semi-annual technical recovery exercises.
Cybersecurity
I have lead groups of applications cyber audits, including CMMC level 2, which stands for
Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model. It is a significant certification to do work with the government, which came after
multiple other cyber requirement compliance campaigns we had for other programs building up.
Application Programming
This project required lots of business intelligence
(BI) programming, extended the application by building over 30 utilities using the apps Rest APIs.
• Coded a C++ based Rest API program to integrate data in legacy applications integrate with modern applications.
• Coded 30 data parsing and analytics utilities.
• Custom web applications that extend commercial off the shelf applications.
• Coded a real Spacecraft Builder application. It used 100s of input options for spacecraft rendering, and the output is
all the specs and test needed for that are spacecraft, integrated with a commercial requirements verification system.
Databases
This project required self-hosting 4 database driven web applications. I used cloud based data based services,
in addition to my previous role as a database systems administrator.
Systems Engineering
In this project, I am the staff software engineer who supports the tools used by systems engineers.
Systems Engineering tools most important feature is linking verification activities to requirements.
In effect, I am the database administrator for the requirements verification system, for 3 different product
lines, and I am building applications & utilities on top of the requirements verification system.
From these experiences, I have 4 years of systems engineering experience in the aerospace environment.
Project Management
In this project, I configured requirements & verification systems for several billion dollar programs
and product lines. I combined industry standards & business processes to implement commercial software, automation it,
cover cybersecurity, set up data integrations, and training.
Open Office XML
Styled Java Velocity export engines are very common across commercial software written in Java,
including engineering applications and email template software. I cleanly put together a
library of exports written in
Velocity and
Open Office XML.
This automatic report generation saved hundreds of hours, and lead to strong documents
when deliverables were required.
